Peggy Evans

Born - 10 January 1921, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England
Died - 26 July 2015

Fresh-complexioned, slightly fragile-looking blonde English actress, a child performer who found her best-remembered role as the girlfriend of robber Dirk Bogarde in The Blue Lamp (1949). As a teenager, she had roles in Colonel Blood (1934), Lightning Conductor (1938) and Charley's (Big-Hearted) Aunt (1940). After the war, her film career flourished only briefly: School for Secrets (1946), Love in Waiting (1948), Penny and the Pownall Case (1948), Look Before You Love (1948), Calling Bulldog Drummond (1951) and Murder at Three a.m. (1953), her last. She married actor-comedian Michael Howard in 1949, and having their two children disrupted the pace of her career. They divorced in 1956 and she later remarried.
