Mark Damon

Born - 22 April 1933, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Died - 12 May 2024

Black-haired, chubby-cheeked American leading actor of pretty-boy, but virile handsomeness. After leads in youth movies and the occasional horror film, he moved to Italy (one of the first Hollywood stars to do so), making chillers, thrillers and westerns. Born Alan Harris and always a slightly stiff leading man, his films include Inside Detroit (1955), Between Heaven and Hell (1956), Young and Dangerous (1957), The Party Crashers (1958), This Rebel Breed (1960), House of Usher/Fall of the House of Usher (1960), Beauty and the Beast (1962), Black Sabbath (1963), Son of Cleopatra (1964), Son of El Cid (1965), Ringo and His Golden Pistol (1966), Johnny Yuma (1966), A Train for Durango (1967), Battle for Anzio (1967), The Young, the Evil and the Savage (1968), Arm of Fire (1970), The Norman Sword (1971), Crypt of the Living Dead/Vampire Woman (1972), The Devil's Wedding Night (1973), A Scaffold for Django (1974), The Scalawag Bunch (1975), There is No 13 (1975), Stuck On You! (1982) and Liar/Deceiver (1997), his last. After 1975, he returned to America, where he later headed a producer sales organisation. Survived by his (second) wife of nearly 50 years, actress Margaret Markov, and two children.
