Vincent McEveety

Director

Born - 10 August 1929, Los Angeles, California, USA
Died - 19 May 2018

Rugged, fair-haired American director, working on TV from the 1950s, then resident at the Disney studio directing light family fare throughout the 1970s before reverting to TV work for the remaining 20 years of his career. He had in fact begun at Disney - as second assistant director on Westward Ho, the Wagons! (1956). By 1962 he had moved into the director's chair and one of his TV dramas This Savage Land (1966) was shown in cinemas outside the US. Later solo work includes Firecreek (1968), Smoke (1970), The Million Dollar Duck (1971), Charley and the Angel (1973), The Castaway Cowboy (1974), The Strongest Man in the World (1975), Treasure of Matecumbe (1976), Gus (1976), Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977), The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979), Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) and Amy (1981), his last, although he continued making TV series episodes until 2000. The director Bernard McEveety, who died in 2004, was his older brother.
