Tall, dark-haired, rangy, fresh-faced American actor, a regular on daytime TV soaps in his latter years. Born Nicholas Probst, he also appeared in a number of TV movies and films, often in leading roles in his earlier days: Summer of Decision (1959), The Way We Live Now (1970), Man on a Swing (1974), Smile (1975), The Gumball Rally (1976), Night Drive (1977), Damien: Omen II (1978), The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh (1979), Airplane! (1980), The Big Easy (1982), Risky Business (1983), The Falcon and the Snowman (1985), Choke Canyon (1986), Morgan Stewart's Coming Home (1987), Less Than Zero (1987), Brain Dead (1990), Pacific Heights (1990), Hoffa (1992), Sliver (1993), Hail Caesar (1994), Executive Decision (1996), Murder at 1600 (1997), Molly (1999), Collateral Damage (2002), The Four Children of Tander Welch (2008), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014), Buster's Mal Heart (2016) and Halloween Kills (2021), his last. He died from cancer, survived by his (fourth) wife of 30 years, actress Christine Belford.
