Strong-jawed blonde American swimmer and wild animal trainer whose image was immortalised on film posers worldwide as the initial victim of the shark in Jaws (1975), her first film. A national-class swimmer and film stuntwoman, her other movies include The Grizzly & the Treasure (1975), Two-Minute Warning (1976), A Stranger in My Forest (1976), Day of the Animals (1977), 1941 (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1979), Catalina c-Lab (1982) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), her last. Three times married, she died from cancer.
