Barbara Rush

Actress

Born - 4 January 1927, Denver, Colorado, USA
Died - 31 March 2024

There wasn't a prettier actress in films in the early 1950s than raven-haired (later blonde) Barbara Rush. She had talent, too. But her studios didn't treat her too well, keeping her in ingenue roles and bizarrely casting her once as a Native American. She gave her best performance (in 1956's Bigger Than Life) after going independent and continued to grace the occasional movie down the years: Molly/The Goldbergs (1950), When Worlds Collide (1951), Flaming Feather (1951), It Came from Outer Space (1953), The Black Shield of Falworth (1954), Magnificent Obession (1954), Kiss of Fire (1955), Captain Lightfoot (1955), World in My Corner (1956), Flight to Hong Kong (1956), No Down Payment (1957), Oh Men! Oh Women! (1957), The Young Lions (1958), Harry Black and the Tiger (1958), The City Jungle (1959), The Bramble Bush (1960), Strangers When We Meet (1960), Come Blow Your Horn (1963), Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964), Hombre (1966), The Man (1971), Superdad (1974), Can't Stop the Music (1980), Summer Lovers (1982), Gatta Alla Pari (1992), Walking Across Egypt (1999) and shorts My Mother's Hairdo (2006) and Bleeding Hearts: The Arteries of Glenda Bryant (2017), her last. Actor Jeffrey Hunter was the first of her three husbands.
