Best known as the cynical cockney private eye Hazell of TV fame, he also appeared in a number of films: Overlord (1975), Too Many Chefs (1978), Life Force (1985), Claudia (1985), Perfect Gift (1994), Croupier (1997), The Manor (1999), Out of Depth (2000), Hellboy (2004), Mutant Chronicles (2008), Dead Man Running (2009), Enchantress (2011), Fifteen (2012), Doom Room (2013), The Krays: Dead Man Walking (2018), Pentagram (2019), The Haunting of Pendle Hill (2022), Trafficking (2023) and A New Breed of Criminal (2023), his last. Actress/comedienne Pamela Stephenson was the first of his two wives.
