Alain Delon

Actor

Born - 8 November 1935, Sceaux, France
Died - 18 August 2024

Dark-haired, open-faced, smouldering French leading man, possessed of an idyllic boyish handsomeness that won him a fan following of millions. Despite largely unsuccessful forays into British and American films, his looks enabled him to ride such setbacks and, after the mid 1960s, he became increasingly involved in the production of his own films, the most successful of which often had a gangster theme: Send a Woman When the Devil Fails (1957), Blonde for Danger (1958), Plein Soleil/Purple Noon (1959), Rocco and His Brothers (1960), The Eclipse (1961), The Leopard (1962), The Black Tulip (1963), The Love Cage (1964), The Yellow Rolls-Royce (1964), Is Paris Burning? (1965), Texas Across the River (1966), Le Samourai (1967), Girl on a Motorcycle (1968), The Sicilian Clan (1969), Borsalino (1970), Red Sun (1971), Scorpio (1972), Tony Arzenta/Big Guns/No Way Out (1973), Borsalino & Co/Blood on the Streets (1974), Zorro (1975), Mr Klein (1976), Airport '80...the Concorde (1979), Le Choc (1982), Swann in Love (1984), Let Sleeping Cops Lie (1988), The Return of Casanova (1992), Les Cents et Une Nuits (1994), Half a Chance (1997), Le Acteurs (2000), L'Ennemi Public No.1 (2007), Une Journee Ordinaire (2011) and Disclaimer (2017), his last. Married/divorced actress Nathalie Delon.
