Died - 14 January 2012

Light-haired French actress of finely-sculptured, alabaster features. In some of her country's best-known films, she also flirted with international stardom, but retired in her early forties after her racing-driver husband was badly injured in an accident. She made her film debut at 15 in Baby (1933), and was subsequently seen in many more movies, including Liliom (1934), Mister Flow (1936), La Rue sans Joie (1938), La Regle du Jeu (1939), Cap au Large (1942), La Belle et la Bete/Beauty and the Beast (1946), Snowbound (1949), Le Plaisir (1952) and Blood Orange (1953), After her husband died, there were latter-day appearances in Comedie d'Ete (1989) and the TV film La Grande Dune (1991). Her first husband, from 1944 to 1946, had been the distinguished French film actor Jean Marais.
