Louise Henry

Actress

Born - 14 June 1911, Syracuse, New York, USA
Died - 12 December 2011

Attractively sharp-featured, light-haired supporting actress of the 1930s who, despite more than competent acting ability, never really rose above supporting roles. Dissatisfied with her career, she left Hollywood in 1940 and became a drama coach, an occupation she pursued for the next 38 years. Singer, dancer and even occasional screenwriter, she was born Jessie Louise Hieman (or Heiman) to Swedish immigrants and, after acting training, was put under contract to MGM, where she made her debut in Paris Interlude (1934). Further films, a mixture of quality fare and 'B' movie thrillers, included Hide-Out (1934), The Casino Murder Case (1935), The Trunk Mystery (1935), Reckless (1935), Exclusive Story (1936), End of the Trail (1936), Charlie Chan on Broadway (1937), There Goes the Groom (1937), The Gaunt Stranger (1938, in England) and Charlie Chan in Reno (1939), her last. She died from complications of advanced age - one of Hollywood's rare centenarians.
