Ken Adam

Possibly the cinema's most famous production designer, the winner of two Oscars and creator of spectacularly elaborate sets for James Bond thrillers. Born Klaus Adam, his Jewish family fled to Britain in 1934. After the war, he began working in British film studios as a draughtsman and assistant art director. His work as production designer includes Around the World in 80 Days (1956), The Trials of Oscar Wilde (1960), Dr No (1962), Dr Strangelove (1964), You Only Live Twice (1967), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Barry Lyndon (1975, his first Oscar), Moonraker (1979), King David (1985), The Deceivers (1988), The Freshman (1990), Addams Family Values (1993), The Madness of King George (1994, second Oscar), In & Out (1997), The Out-of-Towners (1999) and Taking Sides (2001), his last.
