Ricardo Palacios

Born - 2 March 1940, Reinosa, Cantabria, Spain
Died - 11 February 2015

Swarthy, squash-nosed, rascally-looking, bulky Spanish actor with raggedy dark hair, a shoo-in for Mexican bandits in spaghetti westerns of the 1950s and 1960s. Other juicy character roles followed in international action and horror films. Born Ricardo Diez, he made his film debut in a comedy-musical, Tengo 17 Anos (1964) after TV experience, but quickly settled into sweaty character roles: Doctor Zhivago (1965), For a Few Dollars More (1965), Return of the Seven (1966), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Seven Guns for the McGregors (1966), the title role in Seven for Pancho Villa (1967), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), El Condor (1970), Black Beauty (1971), Captain Apache (1971), Bad Man's River (1971), The Man Called Noon (1973), The Spikes Gang (1974), The Wind and the Lion (1975), Take a Hard Ride (1975), Where Time Began (1977), The House on Garibaldi Street (1979), Night of the Werewolf (1980), Black Venus (1983), The Ark of the Sun God (1984), Tex and the Lord of the Deep (1985), El Lute (1987), Return of the Musketeers (1989), Hot Blood (1990), Dollar for the Dead (1997), The Green March (2002), his last, and dozens more. He died from a heart attack.
