Stocky, taciturn, olive-skinned American actor with tightly curled dark hair. A former Marine and pro football player, he took up acting at 26 and had a few interesting lead roles in the early 1960s before settling into a long career as a featured player and 'guest star' in TV series: Rally 'round the Flag, Boys! (1958), Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959), Tess of the Storm Country (1960), Desire in the Dust (1960), Sniper's Ridge (1961), Intimacy (1965), Mosby's Marauders (1967), Hang 'Em High (1968), Play 'Misty' for Me (1971), High Plains Drifter (1973), Sssssnake (1973), Where the Red Fern Grows (1974), Another Man, Another Chance (1977), Die, Sister, Die! (1978) and The Oklahoma City Dolls (1981), his last, although he continued acting on TV until the mid 1990s, by which time he had also embarked on a career in real estate. Survived by Sharon, his (third) wife of 44 years, and four children.
