Anthony Hinds

The son of the co-founder of Hammer Films, Hinds was an innovative producer and the driving force behind many of the company's horror films, writing several of them under the pen name John Elder. His earliest big success as producer was The Quatermass Xperiment in 1955, his last more than 50 movies later was The Lost Continent (1968). As John Elder, he wrote, among others, The Brides of Dracula (1960), Curse of the Werewolf (1961), The Phantom of the Opera (1962), Kiss of the Vampire (1963), The Evil of Frankenstein (1964), Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1965), Rasputin the Mad Monk (1965), The Reptile (1966), Frankenstein Created Woman (1967), Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968), Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970), Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1973), Legend of the Werewolf (1974) and The Ghoul (1975). He died from Parkinson's Disease.
