Neil Innes

Composer/comedian

Born - 9 December 1944, Danbury, Essex, England
Died - 29 December 2019

Impish, small-eyed, latterly bald musician and comedian, a fringe member of the Monty Python team sometimes referred to as 'the seventh Python'. He wrote songs for their shows, as well as sometimes appearing before the camera, and being a guitar-playing member of the fictitious band The Rutles. He made his film debut in a short called The Flying Alberts (1965) and soon became associated with the Pythons: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Jabberwocky (1977), Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979), Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1981), The Missionary (1982) and Erik the Viking (1988). His role in Gods of Los Angeles (2005) ended up on the cutting-room floor, but there was one final on-screen appearance in Not the Messiah: He's a Very Naughty Boy in 2010. He died suddenly 'from natural causes' days after his 75th birthday.
