Square-jawed, husky-voiced English actress with liquid brown eyes and flyaway hair, born Roberta Roberts and a formidable stage performer. Although she's best remembered for her trenchant performances in the UK TV series The Bill and EastEnders, there were also a few film appearances down the years: Lady KIllers (1980), The Witches (1990), Tom and Viv (1994), The Passion (1999), Green Street 3: Never Back Down (2013), Viceroy's House (2017), The Foreigner (2017) and Frank & Mary (2019), her last. She died from pneumonia and emphysema complications.
