Tall, dark Welsh actor of hawklike handsomeness and patrician bearing. Born Keith Baxter-Wright, he became a highly successful stage actor and formidable Shakespearian. And there were odd film appearances, too: The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1957), Peeping Tom (1960), Chimes at Midnight/Falstaff (1965), Treasure Island (begun 1965 but unfinished), With Love in Mind (1970), Ash Wednesday/Bachelor Girl Apartment (1973), La Regenta (1974), Golden Rendezvous (1977), Berlin Blues (1988) and Killing Time (1998), his last. Survived by his long-term partner Brian, he died from a heart attack.
