Marc Platt

Actor/dancer

Born - 2 December 1913, Pasadena, California, USA
Died - 29 March 2014

Slim, lithe American dancer and actor with reddish-blonde wavy hair, given both action and musical roles by Columbia in the 1940s, but now principally remembered as one of the dancing backwoods siblings in the 1954 musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Born Marcel LePlat, he had made his debut appropriately in You're in the Army Now (1941) before he was indeed drafted. Following war service, he returned to the stage in 1943, then had good film roles in Tonight and Every Night (1945), Tars and Spars (1946), Down to Earth (1947), The Swordsman (1948) and Addio Mimi! (1949). The stage occupied much of his time, though, and his only other films were Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Oklahoma! (1955) and These Wilder Years (1956). He continued to perform in dance, however, until he reached his nineties.
