Gregg Palmer

Actor

Born - 25 January 1927, San Francisco, California, USA
Died - 31 October 2015

Beefily handsome, rich-voiced Hollywood 'second lead' with thick dark hair. After early roles in My Friend Irma Goes West (1950) and Meet Danny Wilson (1951), the actor, still appearing under his real name of Palmer Lee, was signed by Universal-International as one of their beefcake boys. The studio made him work hard over his five-year-contract and gave him some decent supporting, sometimes co-starring roles, and changing his name to Gregg Palmer in 1954: The Cimarron Kid (1951), Red Ball Express (1952), The Battle at Apache Pass (1952), Son of Ali Baba (1952), Column South (1953), The Redhead from Wyoming (1953), Playgirl (1954),Magnificent Obsession (1954), Taza, Son of Cochise (1954), To Hell and Back (1955), The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) and several more. Freelancing, he sometimes worked for lesser studios and did much TV: Revolt at Fort Laramie(1957), From Hell It Came (1957), The Female Animal (1958), The Sad Horse (1959), The Shaggy Dog (1959), Five Guns for Tombstone (1960). In the sixties, the roles got smaller: The Absent-Minded Professor (1961), The Comancheros (1961), 40 Pounds of Trouble (1962), Company of Cowards (1963), The Quick Gun (1964), Shenandoah (1965), The Rare Breed (1966), If He Hollers, Let Him Go! (1968), The Undefeated (1969), Chisum (1970), Rio Lobo (1970), Big Jake (1971), The Shootist (1976), Hot Lead and Cold Feet (1978), The Man With Bogart's Face (1980), Scream (1981) and Early Warning (1981), his last.
