Lance Percival

Actor

Born - 26 July 1933, Sevenoaks, Kent, England
Died - 6 January 2015

Lanky, light-haired, toothy, donkey-faced character comedian, also a whiz at telling children's stories and making up mock calypsos. Born John Lancelot Percival, he got his big break with those calypsos on the satirical TV show of the early 1960s, That was the Week That Was. Later he had two TV series of his own, and was already contributing comedy cameos, often too broad for his subtle talents, to films: Three Men in a Boat (1956), In The Doghouse (1960), Raising the Wind (1961), Twice Round the Daffodils (1962), Carry On Cruising (1962), Hide and Seek (1963), The Yellow Rolls-Royce (1964), You Must Be Joking! (1965), The Big Job (1965), Mrs Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter (1968), Darling Lili (1969), There's a Girl in My Soup (1970), Up Pompeii (1971), Up the Front (1972), Our Miss Fred (1972), Confessions from a Holiday Camp (1977) and Rosie Dixon Night Nurse (1978). He continued to work on TV, his last appearance on the small screen being in the TV movie Jekyll and Hyde in 1990.
