Terry Jones

Born - 1 February 1942, Colwyn Bay, Wales, UK
Died - 21 January 2020

Cheerful-looking English humorist with unruly dark hair, one of the driving forces behind the success of the 'Monty Python' group of comic innovators. Having less distinctive looks than some of his co-conspirators, Jones was able to attempt a wider variety of roles in their satirical romps, as well as directing and co-writing most of their feature work. Involved in TV comedy from 1966, he co-created the iconic Monty Python's Flying Circus, which ran on BBC-TV from 1969 to 1974. Acting appearances in films included those in And Now for Something Completely Different (1971), Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Jabberwocky (1977), Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979), Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1981), Monty Python's the Meaning of Life (1983), Erik the Viking (1989), The Wind in the Willows (1996), The Creator (1999), Stranger Than Fiction (2006), The Seventh Python (2008), voices in A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman (2012) and Absolutely Anything (2015), his last. As director, he also made the 1987 film Personal Services. He died from frontal lobe dementia.
