Flame-haired, apple-cheeked, dark-eyed, button-cute American actress who featured prominently in teenage and drive-in fare of the 1950s and early 1960s. Born Dianna Irgens, she was in several films as a child, including Ginger (1946), Beat the Band (1947) and Fighting Mustang (1948). Returning at 19, she made, sometimes in semi-leading roles, The Flaming Torch (1954), Daddy Long Legs (1955), The Benny Goodman Story (1956), Friendly Persuasion (1956), Desk Set/His Other Woman (1957), Sing Boy Sing (1958), High School Confidential! (1958), Island of Lost Women (1959), The FBI Story (1959), Escape to Paradise (1960), Teenage Millionaire (1961), The McGonigle (1961) and Espionage: Far East (1962), her last. Her marriage to actor Peter Brown broke up after two years, and in 1963 she wed New Christy Minstrels musician/producer Randy Sparks, who survives her, along with their four children, after a marriage of 55 years.
