Born - 8 November 1927, Claremore, Oklahoma, USA
Died - 1 January 2013

Blonde American singer with a faint resemblance to Peggy Lee: a round face with noticeable cheekbones and a distinctive mellow voice. She also recorded one of biggest best-selling songs ever: The Tennessee Waltz in 1951, as well as making a few films: Elmer Gantry (1960), Dondi (1961) and Boys' Night Out (1962). Born Clara Ann Fowler, the blue-eyed singer nicknamed The Singing Rage had 15 gold records and three gold LPs, with four number 1 songs in the charts. She also starred in a stage production of Annie Get Your Gun, to which her energy, personality and singing voice were ideally suited. At the time of her death, she had been suffering from chronic obstructive lung disease as well as a heart ailment.
