Diminutive, impish, faintly mousy, brown-haired Scottish-born actress who, after a brief but busy film career as Ann Gudrun, won late-in-life fame under her birth name as TV's tam-o-shanter-wearing, flying Super Gran. After contributing the voice of Desdemona in 1951's Othello, her films included The Million Pound Note (1953), 36 Hours/Terror Street (1953), The Case of Soho Red (1953), Doctor in the House (1954), The Diamond/The Diamond Wizard (1954), Trouble in the Glen (1954), The Sea Shall Not Have Them (1954), Trouble in the Glen (1954), To Dorothy, a Son (1954), The Woman on the Beach (1955) and Macbeth (1964), her last, although she continued acting on TV until 2009.
