Biff McGuire

Actor

Born - 25 October 1926, New Haven, Connecticut
Died - 3 April 2021

Thin-lipped, small-chinned, but wirily lean-framed brown-haired American supporting actor and occasional leading man. After US Army service in World War Two, the actor (and sometime singer), born William McGuire Jr, studied acting and made his film debut as a sailor in You're in the Navy Now (1951). Entrenched in TV in the early 1950s, further films came much later: The Phenix City Story (1955), Destination Space (1959), Station Six - Sahara (1962), Diary of a Swinger (1966), The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (1968), The Werewolf of Washington (1973), Serpico (1973), Battle of Midway (1976) and The Last Word (1979), after which he moved permanently into the stage musicals he had already been performing since 1961 opposite his wife, English actress/singer Jeannie Carson, who survives him. In 2013, there was one last film appearance, in Hollywood Seagull. He died from natural causes.
