Grey-eyed, dark-haired, intense-looking German actress, born Waltraut Goltz, who specialised in strong, sometimes aggressive women. After leaving school, she fled to Denmark, moving to West Germany after WW2 to study drama, and winning the leading female role in her first film Delivery of a Turtle Dove in 1952. Later, she moved into international roles, subsequent credits including Christina (1953), The Last Bridge (1954), Spionage (1955), Die GeierWally/Vulture Girl (1956), A Time to Love and a Time to Die (1958), Doctor Without Scruples (1959), Town Without Pity (1961), Dr Sibelius (1962), The Squeaker (1963), The Phantom of Soho (1964), Operation Crossbow (1965), An Ace and Four Queens (1966), Tamara (1967), A Woman Needs Loving (1969), The Avenger (1972) and My Uncle Theodore (1975), her last. In the 1980s, she left acting behind, and specialised in organic and vegetarian cookery, publishing several food-oriented books.
