Dark-haired, self-affacing Welsh actor of set, resolute features, who followed his better-known older brother Donald (1923-1991) into acting in the late 1940s. A character actor throughout the 1950s in the bustling British cinema, he was seen in semi-leading roles in the mid 1960s, but thereafter mostly in the theatre or on TV. After a debut in The Blue Lamp (1949), he made Trio (1950), Waterfront (1950), Home to Danger (1951, I Believe in You (1951), Gift Horse (1952), The Cruel Sea (1952), Hell Below Zero (1953), Turn the Key Softly (1953), The Rainbow Jacket (1954), Betrayed (1954), Lost (1955), Passage Home (1955), Who Done It? (1956), The Long Arm (1956), High Flight (1957), The One That Got Away (1957), A Night to Remember (1958), A Cry from the Streets (1958), Tiger Bay (1959), Sink the Bismarck! (1959), The Bulldog Breed (1960), Payroll (1961), Flame in the Streets (1961), Solo for Sparrow (1962), Panic (1963), The Brigand of Kandahar (1965), The Secret of Blood Island (1965), Invasion (1966), Headline Hunters (1968), Granny Gets the Point (1971), Are You Being Served?
