Lucia Bosè

Actress

Born - 28 January 1931, Milan, Italy
Died - 23 March 2020

Raven-haired, ultra-slim, scarlet-lipped Italian actress whose classical beauty was seen in leading movie roles from her very first, Under the Olive Tree in 1949. Born Lucia Boriani, she was a beauty contest winner at 16, and proved a popular star attraction throughout the 1950s: The Story of a Love Affair (1950), Paris est Toujours Paris (1951), Three Girls from Rome (1952), The Lady Without Camelias (1953), Of Life and Love (1954), Death of a Cyclist (1955), Sinfonia d'Amore (1956), Nazarin (1958) and Le Testament d'Orphee (1959), before taking a long break to raise her three children by her then-husband, actor Luis-Miguel Dominguin. After a decade away, she returned in meaty character roles: Nocturne 29 (1968), Fellini Satyricon (1969), The Picasso Summer (1969), Metello (1970), Something Creeping in the Dark (1971), The House of the Doves (1972), Nathalie Granger (1972), The Legend of Blood Castle (1973), Bloodstains in a New Car (1974), Down the Ancient Stairs (1975), Lumiere (1976) and Violanta (1977). After another decade's break, she was seen in Chronicle of a Death Foretold (1987), Brumal (1988), Moon Child (1989), The Miser/L'Avare (1990), Il Coraggio di Anna (1992), Harem (1999), I Vicere (2007) and One More Time (2013), her last. The actress, who died from pneumonia, won a Golden Globe for her performance in Harem.
