Urbane, handsome, solidly-built, black-haired Italian leading man, often seen as charming villains; a noted figure in Italian films of the 1950s and 1960s, Ferzetti, born Pasquale Ferzetti, also became a familiar face in large-scale international ventures of the period. He had started as a teenager - Street of Five Moons and Bengazi (both 1942) - and began a rapid ascent to matinee-idol stardom in post-war years: Les Miserables (1948), Fabiola (1949), Gli Amanti di Ravello (1951), The Wayward Wife (1953), Casa Ricordi (1954), Donatella (1956), It Happened in Rome (1957), Hannibal (1959), L'Avventura (1960), Jessica (1961), Torpedo Bay (1962), Desideri d'Estate (1964), The Bible...in the Beginning (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Machine Gun McCain (1969), Draco in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), (1970), Hitler: The Last 10 Days (1973), The Night Porter (1974), Bloodline (1979), Inchon!
