Aubrey Morris

Actor

Born - 1 June 1926, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England
Died - 15 July 2015

Dumpy, round-faced, eccentric English character actor with frizzy ginger hair and impish smile. The younger brother of actor Wolfe Morris, he could be funny, camp, sinister or just oddball as the sutuation demanded. Few of his roles were conventional. Born Aubrey Steinberg, he was first seen in a TV production of the successful play Fly Away Peter, which would be filmed (in truncated form) later that year (1948). The whimsical looks he acquired in middle age led to a film career from the early 1960s: The Quare Fellow (1962), Panic (1963), The Night Caller (1965), The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery (1966), A Clockwork Orange (1971), The Wicker Man (1973), Lisztomania (1975), Love and Death (1975), The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975), SOS Titanic (1979), Oxford Blues (1984), The Rachel Papers (1989), My Girl 2 (1994), Bordello of Blood (1996), Legend of the Mummy (1998), Red Roses and Petrol (2003) and Necessary Evil (2008), his last.
