Tall, wry-faced, rattrap-mouthed but happy looking, dark-haired American comedy actor, best-remembered as the absent-minded Governor Gatling in TV's Benson series. In between TV successes, a medium in which he debuted in 1950, he played supporting roles in a number of films: What's So Bad About Feeling Good? (1968), The Sporting Club (1971), 1776 (1972), Dragonfly (1976), '10' (1979), Being There (1979), Airplane II: the Sequel (1982), A Tiger's Tale (1987), Chances Are (1989), Bang (1995) Glacier Bay (2006) and Fake (2011), his last. Married to actress Carolyn Coates, who died in 2005, Noble died at 94 following a stroke.
