Good-looking, light-haired American director of photography who shared an Oscar (with Joseph Biroc) for his work on The Towering Inferno (1974). He worked for 10 years as a camera assistant - Kismet (1955), Raintree County (1957), Bells Are Ringing (1960), The Hook (1963) and others, before getting his break as solo cinematographer on 'Man from UNCLE' films, then moving on to bigger things: The Spy With My Face (1965), The Karate Killers (1967), Patton - Lust for Glory (1969), Billy Jack (1970), The Magnificent Seven Ride! (1972), Harry Never Holds (1973), Posse (1975), Fun With Dick and Jane (1977), The Champ (1979), The Hunter (1980) and Yes, Giorgio (1982), then a slew of TV movies before Listen to Me (1989) and Flight of the Intruder (1991), his last. He died from Alzheimer's Disease.
