Balding, happy-faced American director of live musical specials on TV, as well as TV series episodes and a few films. He had begin in films as a teenage dancing member of 'The Jivin' Jacks and Jills', who appeared in mid-budget Universal musicals of the 1940s: What's Cookin' (1942), Give Out, Sisters (1942), Mister Big (1943), Top Man (1943), Babes on Swing Street (1944), Patrick The Great (1945), An Angel Comes to Brooklyn (1945), Margie (1946) and more. After Broadway and nightclub work, he began directing in 1960. Occasional films as director include Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates (1969), Adam at 6 A.M. (1970), The World's Greatest Athlete (1973), The Family and Other Living Things (1978), How to Beat the High Co$t of Living (1980) and The Absent-Minded Professor (1988), his last work being episodes of the series Star Trek: Voyager in the late 1990s.
