John Kerr

Actor/lawyer

Born - 15 November 1931, New York City, USA
Died - 2 February 2013

Light-haired leading man of boyish good looks, a star in movies for just a few years on the back of his stage and screen success in Tea and Sympathy. The son of actors Geoffrey Kerr and June Walker, he was in television drama from 1953, and films followed: The Cobweb (1955), Tea and Sympathy (1956), Gaby (1956), The Vintage (1957) and South Pacific (1958). Stardom drifted away after that from his slightly colourless personality, but there a few more films before he changed careers and became a successful lawyer in his late thirties: The Crowded Sky (1960), Girl of the Night (1960), The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) and Seven Women from Hell (1961); then much TV before his last, Dealing: Or the Berkeley-to-Boston Forty-Brick Lost-Bag Blues (1972). He died from congestive heart failure.
