Dark-haired, oval-faced, sultry French actress, part of the nouvelle vague in the 1960s. Originally seen as temptresses or femmes fatales, she played more conventional leading roles as she moved into her thirties: Premier Mai (1958), Les Cousins (1959), Eyes Without a Face (1960), The Trojan Horse (1961), Ca, C'est la Vie (1962), Landru/Bluebeard (1963), Ophelia (1963), Dangerous Love (1964), Assassination in Rome (1965), Listen, Lets Make Love (1968), Un Amore Oggi (1970), Flatfoot/Knock-Out Cop (1973), Vices in the Family (1975), Bestialita (1976), The Bloodstained Shadow (1978) and Molly O (1986), her last. After that, Mayniel (sometimes billed 'Meyniel' in credits) quit acting and moved to Mexico, where she died.
