Blonde, open-faced American actress who started acting at 12, and was in films as a teenager. Born Anne Banks, she progressed to leading roles in 'B' features before quitting films in her late twenties to become a prominent figure in local theatre; she also wrote a novel, To Catch a Spy. Her films, fewer than one remembers, included Roughly Speaking (1945), Humoresque (1946), Mother Wore Tights (1947), June Bride (1948), Fighting Coast Guard (1951), Two Tickets to Broadway (1951), Fort Osage (1951), Wagons West (1952), Port Sinister (1953), Clipped Wings (1953), Monster from the Ocean Floor (1954), The Flaming Torch (1955) and, on a visit to England, Girls at Sea (1958), her last.
