Exotic, dark-haired, dark-eyed French dancer, prima ballerina with the Roland Petit dance company before she was 20. She was first seen on screen in Femmes de Paris (1953) and made her Hollywood debut supporting fellow Roland Petit alumnus Leslie Caron in The Glass Slipper (1954), though she never equalled Caron's standing in the industry, scoring her greatest successes later on the Broadway stage. Later films include Moonfleet (1955), Daddy Long Legs (1955), Viva Las Vegas (1956), The Sad Sack (1957), The Living Idol (1957), The Young Lions (1958), King Creole (1958) and Me and the Colonel (1959). Much later, she appeared in Chobizenesse (1975), Wall Street (1987), The Idol (2002), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), 4 Days in France (2016) and Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age (2018), her last. She won a Tony in 1982 for her performance in the stage musical Nine. She died from cancer of the colon.
