Claude Pinoteau

Director

Born - 25 May 1925, Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts de Seline, France
Died - 5 October 2012

Bald, benign, bespectacled French director who made fewer films than one remembers, but an enormous number as assistant director from 1949 to 1972. The brother of fellow director Jacques Pinoteau, he made his first solo film, the short Enfant Seul, in 1968. A few features followed, most of them popular, and often featuring Lino Ventura and/or Sophie Marceau: The Silent One (1973), La Gifle (1974), Le Grand Escogriffe (1976), L'Homme en Colere (1979), Le Boum (1980), Le Boum 2 (1982), La Septieme Cible (1984), L'Etudiante (1988), La Neige et le Feu (1991), Cache Cash (1994) and Les Palmes de Monsieur Schulz (1997), his last.
