Barbara Harris

Actress

Born - 25 July 1935, Evanston, Illinois, USA
Died - 21 August 2018

Quirky, round-faced, bubbly American actress with curly blonde hair (originally brunette). Seen more often in the theatre than in films, she was Oscar-nominated for Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying These Terrible Things About Me? (1971), but never really made her mark in the medum, despite (or perhaps because of) her attractively offbeat personality. Film appearances include those in A Thousand Clowns (1965), Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad (1967), Plaza Suite (1971), The War Between Men and Women (1972),Mixed Company (1974), Nashville (1975), Hitchcock's Family Plot (1976 - having made her TV debut in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents in 1961), Movie Movie (1978), Second Hand Hearts (1981, completed 1978), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988), The Pamela Principle (1991) and Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), her last before a move to Arizona, where she taught acting. She died of lung cancer.
