Tony Tanner

Chipper, English-born, dark-haired actor, singer, dancer and choreographer who went to America with the Broadway cast of the musical Half a Sixpence and stayed there. First seen in a TV version of Dodie Smith's I Capture the Castle (1954), he made film appearances in Strictly for the Birds (1963), The Pleasure Girls (1964), A Home of Your Own (1965) and The Sandwich Man (1966), before taking Anthony Newley's stage role in a flop film version of Stop the World, I Want to Get Off in 1966. He made the rest of his career on the US stage and TV, his only remaining film credits coming in Robin Hood : Men in Tights (1993) and Exorcism (2003). He won Tony nominations for his work as both choreographer and director in a Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
