Leslie Brooks

Actress

Born - 13 July 1922, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
Died - 1 July 2011

Glacial blonde, a cool, incisive performer who moved gradually from featured roles to leading parts in 'B' movies, then sadly retired on her second marriage. Born Virginia Leslie Gettman, she began with chorus-line 'bits' in such films as Ziegfeld Girl (1941) and, as a member of the Navy Blues Sextette, in Navy Blues and You're in the Army Now (both 1941). A move to Columbia brought her a first leading role in Underground Agent (1942), and she settled there in a variety of leads and second-leads, always proficient and professional: Two Senoritas from Chicago (1943), Nine Girls (1944), Tonight and Every Night (1945), The Man Who Dared (1946), The Secret of the Whistler (1946), The Corpse Came C.O.D. (1947), The Cobra Strikes (1948) and her best role, as a noir villainess, in Blonde ice (1948). She made one belated reappearance, in How's Your Love Life? in 1971.
