David Lander

Actor

Born - 22 June 1947, New York City, USA
Died - 4 December 2020

Diminutive American comic character actor with a slick of black hair and clown's smile. Born David Landau, he was much beset by multiple sclerosis for most of his life, but nonetheless made many people laugh during a long and popular TV-oriented career. Nicknamed 'Squiggy' from his famous role in the long-running Laverne & Shirley, he also found time to make quite a few film appearances: 1941 (1979), Wholly Moses! (1980), Used Cars (1980), Pandemonium (1982), The Man With One Red Shoe (1985), Funland (1987), a voice in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Masters of Menace (1990), A League of Their Own (1992), Ava's Magical Adventure (1994), The Modern Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1998), Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure (1999), Scary Movie (2000), Say It Isn't So (2001), Jane White is Sick & Twisted (2002), Christmas With the Kranks (2004), Zoom (2006) and the short Tomoko's Kitchen (2006), his last, although he continued doing voiceover work until 2017. Actress-producer Kathy Fields, his (second) wife of more than 40 years, survives him.
