Dick Miller

Actor

Born - 25 December 1928, New York City, USA
Died - 30 January 2019

Short, tough-looking, jut-jawed, black-haired New Yorker with 'street corner' looks that you could rarely trust. In his younger days boxing champion, commercial artist, semi-pro footballer, and disc jockey, he turned to acting in his late twenties and starred as Brooklynese leads in Z-grade horrors and teenpix - one of his characters being the now legendary Walter Paisley from A Bucket of Blood (1959), a role he reprised in further movies, often for the American-International outfit and such directors as Roger Corman and Joe Dante. Scores of credits over a 65-year period include Apache Woman (1955), It Conquered the World (1956), The Undead (1956), Not of This Earth (1957), War of the Satellites (1958), Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Premature Burial (1962), The Terror (1963), The Wild Angels (1966), The St Valentine's Day Massacre (1967), Four Rode Out (1969), The Grissom Gang (1971), Executive Action (1973), Hustle (1975), Mr Billion (1977), Piranha (1979), The Howling (1980), Twilight Zone the Movie (1983), The Terminator (1984), Gremlins (1984), InnerSpace (1987), The 'burbs (1989), Gremlins 2 The New Batch (1990), Matinee (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Small Soldiers (1998), Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003), Trail of the Screaming Forehead (2006), The Hole (2009), Burying the Ex (2014) and Hannukah (2019), his last. He married for the first and only time at 38; his wife Elaine (Lainie) survives him.
