William Simons

Born - 17 November 1940, Mumbles, Wales, UK
Died - 21 June 2019

Brown-haired, round-faced English child actor who suffered a disfiguring facial affliction similar to acne, and left acting for several years, before later re-emerging as a genial character actor with somewhat pockmarked face who made an impression in several long-running TV series, notably Heartbeat (as PC Ventress) - more than 300 episodes - and The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries. He had begun in films at 10 years old: Prelude to Fame (1950), Where No Vultures Fly (1951), West of Zanzibar (1954), Not So Dusty (1956), On the Fiddle (1961) and Escape by Night (1964), his last - then into 50 busy years acting in TV series. His first wife died in 2002 and he later remarried.
