Tiny, dynamic, vivacious dancer, singer and actress, a natural blonde who was often seen as a brunette in movies. Only occasionally a leading lady in movies, Verdugo found her greatest popularity as girl Friday to Robert Young in the hugely successful Marcus Welby MD TV series, which ran from 1969 to 1976. Making her film debut as a child in Cavalier of the West (1931), she was in adult roles as a teenager: Down Argentine Way (1940), Blood and Sand (1941), The Moon and Sixpence (1942), House of Frankenstein (1944), The Frozen Ghost (1945), Strange Voyage (1946), Song of Scheherazade (1947), The Big Sombrero (1949), Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), Thief of Damascus (1952), The Marksman (1953), Panama Sal (1957), Day of the Nightmare (1964), How Sweet It Is!
