Swarthy, black-haired, sometimes moustachioed Latino New Yorker in good supporting roles, especially playing Clint Eastwood's sidekick in Dirty Harry (1971). He had made his debut (billed as Reni Sands) in Strangers in the City (1962), subsequently appearing under his real name in The Pawnbroker (1964), Enter Laughing (1967), The Battle for Anzio (1967), A Great Big Thing (1968), Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969), The Student Nurses (1970), Panic on the 5:22 (1974), I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (1977), They Went That-a-Way and That-a-Way (1978), exclaiming 'What a guy!' in the delightful Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982), Brewster's Millions (1985), Cobra (1986), The Pick-Up Artist (1987), The Package (1989), Only You (1992), The Brady Bunch Movie (1995), Private Parts (1997), 28 Days (2000), Gang Warz (2004), Clean Sweep (2006), Irene in Time (2009), his last, and more. He died from cancer.
