Rubicund, round-faced, curly-haired American character actor and singer, who founded an opera company, as well as building a useful list of film credits: Somewhere in Time (1980), Take This Job and Shove It (1981), Doctor Detroit (1983), Grandview, U.S.A. (1984), That Was Then, This is Now (1985), Best Shot/Hoosiers (1986), The Untouchables (1987), Who's That Girl (1987), Betrayed (1988), Backdraft (1991), Mo' Money (1992), Rudy (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), Going All the Way (1997), CSA: The Confederate States of America (2004) and The Owner (2012), his last. He died from cancer of the liver.
