Daliah Lavi

Actress

Born - 12 October 1940, Moshav Shavey Zion, Palestine (now Israel)
Died - 3 May 2017

Raven-haired, olive-skinned, flashing-eyed Israeli actress, best used in her first major international film, Lord Jim, but mainly seen thereafter as shapely decoration in spy thrillers and racy comedies. Tiring of such fare, she left films in 1971 and pursued a singing career: ironically her greatest popularity as a vocalist was in Germany. Born Daliah Levenbuch, she made her film debut at 14 in The People of Hemso (1955), but began her career in earnest several years later: Burning Sands (1960), Violent Summer (1961), Two Weeks in Another Town (1962), Night is the Phantom (1963), Apaches' Last Battle/Old Shatterhand (1964), Lord Jim (1965), The Silencers (1966), The Spy With a Cold Nose (1966), Casino Royale (1967), Jules Verne's Rocket to the Moon (1967), Nobody Runs Forever (1968), Some Girls Do (1969) and Catlow (1971), her last. Four times married.
