Lean-faced, fair-haired slightly sly-looking Canadian-born actor, of Irish parentage, prolific in the British cinema of the 1950s. Known to his friends as Case, the busy thespian made his UK film debut in Give Us This Day (1949), following up with substantial roles in The Mudlark (1950), Talk of a Million (1951), Escape by Night (1952), Three Steps to the Gallows (1953), Trouble in Store (1953), Happy Ever After (1954), Tiger by the Tail (1955), 1984 (1956), Bitter Victory (1957), Blind Spot (1958) and Inn for Trouble (1960). Later credits include Blow-Up (1966), The Double Exposure of Holly (1976, which he also wrote), the TV movie Beverly Hills Madam (1986), The Beverly Hillbillies (1993) and the short The Drop Off (2007), his last. The first of his two wives was actress Louie Ramsey. He moved permanently to the US after 1980.
