Marigold

4/10

Stars: Ali Larter, Salman Khan, Nandana Sen, Ian Bohen. Shari Watson, Helen, Gulshan Grover

Director: Willard Carroll

Unlike Bollywood movies which run around three hours, this Anglo-American imitation merely seems that long.

Soft-porn actress Marigold (Larter), star of 'films with a number at the end', takes her queen-bitch personality to India, where she finds that her film, Kama Sutra 3, has been cancelled. Taken to the set of another movie, she falls heavily for the choreographer (Khan).

Visiting his (royal) family at their palatial home, she is shocked by the arrival of her loved one's intended (Sen) via an arranged marriage.

Half a travelogue of Goa and half set in a never-never world of floral costumes, fabulous dance routines and bearded servants, the film screams fake from beginning to end. The ravishing Larter is one of the few Hollywood actresses who looks better the less makeup she wears, but you still don't give a rupee for the future of the final union. If it didn't work for Jemima Goldsmith, then what chance for the star of Basic Instinct 3?
